Helldivers 2 best loadouts for Helldive difficulty: current meta for bugs, bots, and Illuminate

This is the current Helldive (Difficulty 10) meta loadout list, structured per faction. The meta philosophy across all three factions is what the community calls Sustain and Burn: your stratagems carry 60-70% of total kills, your primary weapon keeps you alive between stratagem cooldowns. The loadouts below reflect that philosophy. If you’re new to Difficulty 10 and just want to win, the universal section at the top will get you there.

TL;DR

  • Universal Difficulty 10 loadout (works against any faction): Eagle 500kg Bomb + Orbital Railcannon Strike + Quasar Cannon + Eagle Airstrike, Purifier primary, Grenade Pistol secondary.
  • Bugs (Terminids): Add Flamethrower or Cremator. Swap one stratagem.
  • Bots (Automatons): Add Orbital Laser. Lean into AT (anti-tank) weapons.
  • Illuminate: Add Arc Thrower. Lean into single-target burst.

The detail below explains why each pick is in the meta and what to swap for solo vs. team play.

The two stratagems that are non-negotiable

Eagle 500kg Bomb. Universal solution: generous kill radius, reasonable cooldown, short call-in time. Good against every enemy type on every faction. There is no faction or mission type where Eagle 500kg is bad. If you’re choosing one stratagem to bring on every Difficulty 10 drop, it’s this.

Orbital Railcannon Strike. The boss-deletion button. Single target, massive damage, point-and-click reliability that ignores armor entirely. Bile Titans (Bugs), Factory Striders (Bots), and Harvesters (Illuminate) all die in one Railcannon hit. The cooldown is the only reason you can’t use it more — call it down on the heaviest enemy on screen the second you see it.

These two slots are fixed. The other two stratagem slots vary by faction.

Per-faction loadouts

Terminids (Bugs) — Difficulty 10 standard

The Bugs are about volume. Hordes of small-to-medium enemies, occasional heavy spawns, no ranged threat. The loadout solves crowd control and the occasional Bile Titan.

Stratagems:

  • Eagle 500kg Bomb
  • Orbital Railcannon Strike
  • Flamethrower (FLAM-40)
  • Eagle Airstrike (backup AoE)

Primary: Cookout (shotgun) or Incendiary Breaker. Both deal good single-target damage and benefit from the fire-status synergy with the Flamethrower.

Secondary: Grenade Pistol. Closes Bug Holes without spending a stratagem slot. Mandatory.

Grenade: Incendiary Impact. Stacks burning status; combines with Flamethrower for the panic-behavior mechanic that’s now in the game.

Why this works: Flamethrowers now cause enemy panic behavior in the Bugs roster, which means smaller enemies break combat formation when burning. Combined with the FLAM-40’s wide cone and an Incendiary Breaker primary, you’re stacking burning status on the entire wave. Bile Titans get Railcannoned. Stalkers get Grenade Pistolled. The Eagle 500kg drops on any heavy cluster.

Automatons (Bots) — Difficulty 10 standard

The Bots are about armor and range. Heavily armored Hulks and Striders, ranged threats from Devastators and Berserkers, no horde pressure. The loadout solves armor penetration and ranged threat management.

Stratagems:

  • Eagle 500kg Bomb
  • Orbital Railcannon Strike
  • Quasar Cannon
  • Orbital Laser

Primary: Purifier (charged plasma) or Diligence Counter Sniper. Both have armor penetration on light-armored Bots and good single-target damage at range.

Secondary: Grenade Pistol or Senator (revolver). Grenade Pistol opens fabricator structures. Senator deletes Devastators at range.

Grenade: Thermite. Sticks to Hulks and one-shots them.

Why this works: The Quasar Cannon’s infinite ammo and unlimited range solves the dropship problem. Orbital Laser clears outposts without exposure. The Purifier is currently the strongest single-target medium-armor primary in the game, with 350 damage per shot and explosive splash that bypasses armor calculation. Hulks die to Thermite grenades. Factory Striders die to Railcannon.

Illuminate — Difficulty 10 standard

The Illuminate are about burst and crowd-control denial. Energy shields on heavies, teleporting Overseers, Voteless waves, Harvesters as boss-tier. The loadout solves the shield problem and the burst-clear problem.

Stratagems:

  • Eagle 500kg Bomb
  • Orbital Railcannon Strike
  • Arc Thrower
  • Eagle Airstrike

Primary: Sickle (laser) or Purifier. Sickle’s heat-management and infinite-ammo design rewards the longer Illuminate engagements; Purifier’s burst handles Overseers cleaner.

Secondary: Grenade Pistol. Same reasoning — objective destruction without a stratagem slot.

Grenade: Thermite or Stun. Stun grenades disable Harvester shields for a Railcannon window.

Why this works: Arc Thrower bypasses the Illuminate energy-shield mechanic entirely — electricity damage is the canonical counter. Combined with Railcannon for Harvesters and Eagle 500kg for Overseer clusters, the Illuminate’s only real threat is the teleport mechanic, which Eagle Airstrike resolves.

Solo vs. team adjustments

The loadouts above are tuned for team play. Solo Difficulty 10 is harder — you don’t have teammates clearing your back or reviving you. Two solo adjustments:

Swap Orbital Laser for Shield Generator Pack on Bots. Solo Bots is brutal without backup. The Shield Generator absorbs a single hit per cooldown, which is the difference between dying mid-extract and surviving.

Swap Flamethrower for Machine Gun Sentry on Bugs. Sentries clear waves you can’t watch yourself. The MG sentry has the best up-time-to-damage ratio for solo wave clearing.

What got nerfed and what got buffed in the last patch

The Siegebreakers Warbond patch in February 2026 made three meta-relevant changes:

  • Flamethrowers buffed. Now cause panic behavior on small enemies. Bugs loadout moved Flamethrower up a tier.
  • Quasar Cannon buffed. Faster charge time. Bots loadout moved Quasar to a permanent slot.
  • Recoilless Rifle reload nerfed. Was previously a strong AT alternative; now slower. Quasar is now strictly better for the same slot.

The patch notes are in-game and on the Arrowhead Discord announcements; the u.gg Helldivers 2 builds page reflects the current meta.

Common mistakes

  • Bringing four anti-tank stratagems. You don’t need them. AT cycles are cooldown-limited; bringing four AT stratagems means three of them are on cooldown when you need them. Mix AT with AoE and utility.
  • Skipping the Grenade Pistol. Every Difficulty 10 loadout should include the Grenade Pistol secondary. It closes Bug Holes, fabricators, and Illuminate spawn structures without spending a precious stratagem slot.
  • Not running Stims with the Stim Booster. At Difficulty 10, you will get hit. Stim Booster Effect lets you survive incidents that would otherwise kill you mid-extract.
  • Engaging Bile Titans, Factory Striders, and Harvesters with your primary weapon. Save the Railcannon. Don’t burn through a magazine and a half of Purifier trying to peck a Bile Titan to death.
  • Calling Eagle 500kg on a single enemy. The radius is generous. Wait for a cluster, even if it means letting the cluster shoot at you for two seconds.

Quick-reference card

Calling in your loadout at the start of a Difficulty 10 mission:

  • Eagle 500kg Bomb — always
  • Orbital Railcannon Strike — always
  • Bugs: Flamethrower + Eagle Airstrike, Cookout primary
  • Bots: Quasar Cannon + Orbital Laser, Purifier primary
  • Illuminate: Arc Thrower + Eagle Airstrike, Sickle primary
  • Universal secondary: Grenade Pistol
  • Solo: swap Orbital Laser → Shield Generator Pack (Bots), Flamethrower → MG Sentry (Bugs)
  • Stuck? Find Scadutree Fragments — wrong game, but yes also call in more Stims.
